Happy Morning Edition

My Favorite Things on the Internet This Week

The Weekly Click

Hello internet stranger,

Welcome to The Weekly Click, a weekly (shocking, I know) updated list of interesting bits on the internet that I thought I’d share.

Happy clicking!

Online happenings that made my week.

“I didn’t know she was Black.”

Donald Trump at the National Association of Black Journalists did not go well. Luke O’Neil, “Donald Trump took a long look in the mirror and decided it was time to go back to the old him. To pull out the most reliable trick in his bag: being insanely racist. Not just regular racist but archaic racist. Old-timey racist.” I agree with him, people are sick of having to think about this dude every single day of their lives.

The 4:30 Movie

Kevin Smith's new movie, The 4:30 Movie, looks pretty good. It's a semi-autobiographical flick about movies, movie theaters, and crushes. Watching the trailer, there’s an energy to the performances that might make The 4:30 Movie sing like his old movies do. Here’s hoping.

No Name

Musician Jack White handed out a nondescript vinyl album to unsuspecting customers at his Third Man Records locations in Nashville, Detroit, and London. It had no title other than No Name and no song titles, but it clearly was a brand-new White album. It didn’t have a release date, so people started ripping it to YouTube, and holy smokes, does this album rock. White ended up dropping it on August 2. I’m particularly fond of the Brian Connolly of Sweet style vocals of “Archbishop Harold Holmes.” Mark my words, it’s going to win a bunch of Grammys.

798 Cadbury Eggs

A shoplifter in Portsmouth, England, was jailed for six months after stealing a total of 798 Cadbury's Creme Eggs. It was worth it, obviously, to enjoy the delicious yet shrinking treats free at the point of acquisition. Yum.

A Unified Theory

Mandy Brown’s A unified theory of fucks is required reading, especially the paragraph around working: “Why love your work? It won’t, of course, love you back.” Perfect.

The articles you should read today.

Quotes, sayings, and other scribblings.

“If you set your goals ridiculously high and it's a failure, you will fail above everyone else's success.” -James Cameron

Listening to an album from start to finish feels like a lost art.

"I’ve often noticed that we are not able to look at what we have in front of us, unless it’s inside a frame." - Abbas Kiarostami

“Today is the worst AI will ever be.” — Alex Irpan

Sometimes, I can’t understand a song’s lyrics until I read them, and then when I hear the song again, they’re clear as day.

“A change is brought about because ordinary people do extraordinary things.” ― Barack Obama
