My Favorite Things on the Internet This Week

Hello internet stranger,

The Weekly Click is a weekly (shocking, I know) updated list of interesting bits on the internet that I thought I’d share.

Happy clicking!

  1. Happy New Year! Vox put together a 420-second montage of almost everything that happened in the world this year.

  2. 10 Great Batman Christmas Stories That Are Surprisingly Full of Holiday Cheer. Better late than never.

  3. Here’s an interesting movie theory: It’s A Wonderful Life is a depressing tragedy, not a feel-good Christmas movie.

  4. Happiness journalist Gretchen Rubin's 24 for 24 is a fun way to rethink the usual New Year resolutions. I might have to put some thought into this idea.

  5. McSweeney’s does it again. The villain who plans to demolish the toy shop in a Hallmark Christmas movie sets the record straight.

  6. The Final Ranking of DC Extended Universe Films. There’s a couple in there that I still haven’t seen.

  7. RELATED: A requiem for Aquaman and the last gasp of the Snyderverse

  19. Chris McLeod, Blogging is where it's at, again.

  20. 10 Essential Pro-Wrestling Movies.

  21. Carl Barenbrug wrote a lovely post listing 20 things he learned this year. I’m not going to write a list myself, but you should definitely go read his.

  22. Tom Smothers, half of the popular Vietnam War-era comedy duo the Smothers Brothers, died in his home following a recent battle with cancer.

  23. The Best Movies to Watch on New Year’s Eve.

  24. Taylor Swift is conservatism’s greatest foe. It’s funny cause it’s true.

  25. After the Atlantic's expose, Substack Has a Nazi Problem, several hundred authors signed an open letter Substackers against Nazis. In response, co-founder Hamish McKenzie says that Substack is okay with hosting supremacist content (as well as transphobic and anti-vax authors) and that they will continue to profit from it. I don’t want to go somewhere else to host this newsletter. Should I? What’s your opinion?

Thanks for reading. If you like this potpourri of internet mélange and want to support it, forward it to someone who might like it, buy my books, or at the very least, let me know what you think. It is my hope you are enjoying my six-word stories or haiku here at the end.

Be seeing you.
