My Favorite Things on the Internet This Week
Hello internet stranger,
The Weekly Click is a weekly (shocking, I know) updated list of interesting bits on the internet that I thought I’d share.
Happy clicking!
Merry Christmas! The Colorado Supreme Court ruled Donald Trump cannot appear on the state's primary ballot next year. This should be exciting. We are in for a wild and woolly constitutional ride over the next few days.

Conservatives freak out about Jill Biden's White House tap-dancing Christmas video. They are so culturally illiterate it boggles the mind. Unless they are being willfully ignorant, but that’s no better. Anyone with working knowledge of right-wing trigger points knows what fueled the outrage, and it’s not just a general right-wing aversion to fun. It’s bigotry. They can’t stand the people they hate having fun in the White House. Watch the video.
SORT OF RELATED: The After School Satan Club planned at the Chimneyrock Elementary School in Cordova, Tennessee, casts Satan “as a literary figure who represents a metaphorical construct of rejecting tyranny and championing the human mind and spirit” and will offer activities that “emphasize a scientific, rationalistic, non-superstitious worldview.” Unsurprisingly, conservatives are upset.
Portions of the internet believe the family in Home Alone afforded their big house because the dad was a gangster. Seems legit.
Every year, John Waters sends a personally signed Christmas card to a select list of friends. Here they all are.
Day in the Life with Terrence Shannon Jr. This is really great.
Katie Woo is a fantastic sports writer. I really enjoyed How John Mozeliak signed top target Sonny Gray
“That’s three and a half hours on a treadmill, singing the entire time.” Attempting Taylor Swift’s tour training regimen.
It’s not exactly true that we stop paying attention to new music as we age, it’s that the ways we pay attention change. That’s me. 100%
20 Words // 20 Seconds is an addictive typing game by Kevin Hutchins where you have 20 seconds to type 20 words based on prompts that refresh every time you type a new word. I am mostly terrible at this.
In the 1990s, a group of radical artists smuggled political messages into Melrose Place. I love everything about this story. Decoder Ring’s podcast version of this story is also great.
On January 1, 2024, a version of Mickey Mouse enters the public domain—a guide to what you can do with it. Not much…
The year’s best movie posters.
Use Plex to Create Your Own Personal Streaming Service. I had no idea how amazing and easy it was to do this.
Marvel Studios has parted ways with Jonathan Majors — the actor cast to play Kang, the central antagonist in the Multiverse Saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — after he was convicted on Dec. 18 of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault of Grace Jabbari, his ex-girlfriend. What a waste. Here are a couple of ways Marvel Studios could move on.
How Prophetic Was Her? Surprisingly really spot on, I think.
Pope Francis formally approved letting Catholic priests bless same-sex couples, a radical shift in policy aimed at making the church more inclusive while maintaining its strict ban on gay marriage. Only a matter of time…
The Best Film Scores & Soundtracks of 2023, including those for The Boy and the Heron, Poor Things, Asteroid City, and Oppenheimer. I really liked The Creator soundtrack, but that didn’t make this list.
Zack Snyder, the director people love to hate. I don’t hate Snyder. I just think his cinematic sensibilities should be directed (ahem) toward his personal projects and away from existing IP, 300 notwithstanding. I’m looking forward to watching Rebel Moon, but I might just wait for the R-rated, three-hour director’s cut.
I dig Mark Manson. Here’s a sampling of his more recent videos: 3 Hard Truths That Will Change Everything, 7 Paradoxes That Will Change How You See Everything, How to Overcome Your Fears, Social Media Is Making Us Forget Who We Are, How to Stop Wasting Your Life.
Are You Sure You Want an Ozempic Pill? Yes. A million times, yes.
Culture war: Texas and California being on the same side in the forthcoming Civil War movie makes no sense, only it makes perfect sense.
ProPublica looked at one gun store in Indiana that does little to nothing to avoid contributing to the illegal gun trade, and how it impacts communities in Chicago and beyond. The problem of guns in Illinois is Indiana.
This is an interesting opinion and I think I agree with it: For Joe Biden, a turnaround in public opinion is coming soon
Variety lists the top 100 shows of all time. Yeah… I’m not so sure. For more recent viewing: The 15 Best TV Shows of 2023 and Seven TV Shows To Get Excited About In 2024. So much to watch and not enough time.
Thanks for reading. If you like this potpourri of internet mélange and want to support it, forward it to someone who might like it, buy my books, or at the very least, let me know what you think. It is my hope you are enjoying my six-word stories or haiku here at the end.
Be seeing you.
